Best Food Forward 2013 Finds

11:15:00 AM 0 Comments
For the past years, I've always been to the Best Food Forward event in NBC Tent. What I like best about the Best Food Forward event is that I get to discover new food in the market. Since I love food, I'm always curious about the innovations people do with food.

Here are my discoveries:
Fuji Mama Takoyaki
I love takoyaki! They're bite size and fluffy. I love how Fuji Mama Takoyaki was full of vegetables. I love how the vegetables are tasty. One thing that got me wondering is why their takoyaki has no octopus while my fiance was very happy and satisfied eating their takoyaki since he's vegetarian for the month of April. I've bravely asked the question and I was told that they ran out of octopus but they've put in more veggies in our takoyaki to compensate which is good.
My order: Tamago Takoyaki
Crunchy belly by Carlo's Kitchen
I'm glad that this booth was giving free taste during the event or else, I wouldn't be buying their product. Carlo, the guy on the right who got cut off, was shy to be in the picture at first but when I clicked the camera, he just came in smiling. When I asked him to go to his right more for a better photo, he refused again. Haha! =D

Look at those yummy crunchy bellies!
At first look, I was already thinking on how sinful their product is. However, knowing that they're giving free taste, I was curious to try it and the rest is history! I bought a pack and started to munch this treat! It's like "chicharon" (Filipino Pork Rind) except it's not oily and it's a bit thicker than bacon. I think what's missing is only vinegar. It's quite a sad that they didn't provide vinegar but then it's still good and yummy!

One of my unforgettable booth is the Kewpie booth where they allow people to take a photo with Kewpie if you bought their product. For those who do not know Kewpie, it's the Japanese Mayo brand that has a baby character called Kewpie.
I think you might recognize this.
My fiance and I bought some Sesame Salad Dressing from the Kewpie booth so I asked my fiance to take a photo with Kewpie.

I think this year is the third year and fourth time of Best Food Forward. For this year, I've noticed that they have too many sweets and desserts that looked alike (since they're all in the same area) so I skipped all that and went to the unique salty sections instead. I hope that for their next event, they get to invite more salty food concessionaires and maybe mix the booths a little so that the sweets and desserts get noticed.

Lolane Prettified

6:43:00 AM 2 Comments
When Lolane was introduced to me, memories of colored hair in high school flashed in front of me. In my years of existence, I've never experimented with hair colors. I remember that back in high school, having one's hair colored is banned so a lot of my classmates just had cellophaned hair. The colors of their hair just comes out whenever the sun light reaches their hair. Since I like the magical effect, I myself had my hair cellophaned too! After high school, having hair color in college seems to be something normal and accepted. That's when I stopped having my hair cellophaned and just embraced my completely black hair. However, even if I love my naturally black hair, a part of me is very curious on how will I look like with obviously colored hair.
Lolane event at SM City San Lazaro
Lolane is made in Thailand and has been there for 25 years. It's actually one of the top brands of hair products in Thailand that can be comparable to US brand L'Oreal according to Lolane's brand manager. Lolane has been in the Philippines for 2 years but it's only now that it has finally created an event for everyone who wants to have beautiful colored hair to come together and enjoy.

As you've seen on the tarp, Lolane is offering FREE application for every purchase of Lolane hair color products! It is currently happening until May 1, 2013 at SM City San Lazaro. Since the product is from Thailand, Lolane Philippines have invited three Thai Senior Stylists to come and do the application.

For PhP300 or less, one can purchase a box of their favorite Lolane hair color and have their hair colored for free in the event. Here are some of the hair colors to choose from:

Light Brown (L) and Very Light Ash Blonde (R) for only PhP129.75 a box.
Burgundy (L) and Mahogany Red Brown (R) are also only P129.75 a box!
A closer look at the Mahogany Red Brown boxes.
Since there were so many nice colors and I was told that I can even mix and match colors, I got so confused on what to choose. I have decided to let Thai Senior Stylist Patrick choose a color for me and this is what he got:
Light Copper Golden Blonde which is PhP239.75 a box.
Since I have really long hair and I wanted my hair to be fully covered, Patrick suggested that I get 3 boxes. After the color selection, I was ready to have my hair colored.
Goodbye black hair! That's Patrick behind me.
THE BASICS
Patrick puts all the tubes' contents into a small bowl.
All the contents in!
He adds in a small cup of Peroxide to make sure the color sticks to my hair
since I'm having my hair colored for the first time.
Mix-mix!
 THE APPLICATION
Using the brush, Patrick applies the mixture on my hair.
Here is Blogger Rhea of Rhea Bue Styles and Writes
whose hair was colored by Patrick too!

Michelle can't hide her excitement to have her hair colored!
THE WAIT
There's a 30-minute waiting time after the application to ensure that the mixture is being absorbed by the hair.
The waiting Rhea! Patrick is still adding some of the mixture to her hair.
Here's me with my wet-hairdo-waiting look!
THE WASH
To rinse off all the mixture.
Ok, that's not me but I don't have a nice photo so hope this suffices.

Before I present to you my final look, I would like to show you the other Lolane products that I've discovered in the event.
Lolane Daily Hair Serum (PhP149) that works like a leave on conditioner
to make hair smooth and shiny.
Grey Coverage Shampoo (PhP99.75) which covers grey hair
while one's taking a shower
The loot I've gotten from Lolane!
Aside from the free hair color application during the event, every customer who spends PhP500 or more gets to pick-a-prize to win a shirt, shower cap, pouch, shoulder bag or hand bag.
The Pick-A-Prize box
I got a hand bag!
Aside from the Pick-A-Prize, there's also a raffle coupon! On the last day of the event, which is on May 1, there are three Ipad Minis to be given away! The deadline of the submission of entries is at 3pm.

April: Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month

1:00:00 PM 0 Comments
This April, let's spread and make a lot of people aware about animal cruelty then help prevent it! Cruelty to animals have been something which people take for granted. People should know that animals have lives and feelings too so let's take good care of them.

I want to share some photos of dogs which I've photographed during a PAWS event.
Aren't they adorable? Please help me spread the word and stop cruelty to animals now! =D

Bridal Idea: The Proposal

8:53:00 AM 2 Comments
Since the 4th year anniversary of my fiance and I is coming up in a few days, I have decided to share how he proposed to me the second time around.

During the first year of our relationship, back in 2010, my fiance has already proposed to me. It wasn't an ordinary way when he has proposed. I've also said yes to his proposal after a long conversation. However, since the proposal was made years ago, he has proposed to me for the second time last year as our wedding date is coming closer. The second proposal made me feel extra special and extra "kilig" (Filipino word for the feeling of butterflies in the stomach).

Proposing takes a lot of guts from a guy's part. First of all, no matter how much a girl loves a guy, proposing for marriage doesn't entail the girl will say yes. Marriage is another dimension. It takes a lot of courage to jump in to say yes and give your future to the one you love who you'll be spending forever with.

It was an ordinary day where we just met up to have dinner at the place where we had our first date, Highlands Steakhouse, since he was craving for steak. When I got to the restaurant, he first gave me a bouquet from Holland Tulips in memory of high school days that whenever the guys are courting girls, they gave them Holland Tulips.
I like the fluffy purple chrysanthemum!
I find the gesture really sweet because I was his high school crush although back in high school he never gave me flowers. Actually, he got busted when we were back in high school. It's just fate that brought us together again after 10 years.
This is me feeling like a high school girl with flowers from Holland Tulips.
The next surprise he gave me that night is a gold nugget. According to him, it's a fake gold nugget but I'll like what's inside.
The gold nugget.
A peek at what's inside! Hmm...Samsung!
It's a Samsung Galaxy Beam! Woot!!! :-D
I have been wanting to have a Samsung Galaxy Beam because of its projector. I love the idea of how I can watch movies in my room while lying and waiting for Mr. Sandman to throw some sand at me to sleep and dream.

After I've opened the gift, my fiance played a slide show video of our photos.
Slide show of photos from the projector.
Look at the "beam" coming out from the phone.
At the end of the video, the question "Spend forever with me?" which made me teary eyed but I didn't want to cry because it's a happy moment. This time, he knelt down (he didn't kneel down the first time he asked because he was too nervous..hehe!:D) and asked me again to marry him. Without even a doubt, I answered a sweet "yes."
The ring (from Karat World) that changed my life! <3>
After the proposal! :) My fiance still looked so nervous here.
I really thank God for all the blessings He has given me and for giving me such a wonderful man in my life. From the moment I met my fiance, I knew he is the one. He makes me the happiest woman in the world every time I'm with him. Can't wait to spend forever with this guy! =)

For all the guys out there who's planning to propose, hope this story will inspire you. Good luck and enjoy the planning!
