The Princess and The Red Carp by Theater Down South

Theater Down South opened its 2010 Season last Sunday (August 22, 2010) with the The Princess and The Red Carp at the Insular Life Theater, Insular Life Corporate Center, Filinvest Corporate City , Muntinlupa.

The Princess and The Red Carp is the Chinese version of the Cinderella story. The main character, Yeh Hsien, with the help of a magical red carp who provides her with clothes, jewelry, and a pair of tiny golden slippers, was able to overcome her life problems. Instead of a Prince Charming, the story has a handsome Young Emperor with his Prime Minister. Of course the Stepsisters and Evil Step Mother are also there!

With an all original book and score, the show’s cast features Kahna Cortez-Velasco as Yeh Hsien, Celine Fabie as the Stepmother, Zig Hagamann as the Young Emperor, Joonee Garcia as the stepsister and is also the script writer, Marie Delgado as the other stepsister, Mikey Llorin as the Prime Minister, Chino Veguillas as The Red Carp and the Theater Down South Company. It is directed by veteran stage actor Michael Williams who was the director of the recently shown play, Masterclass.
