McDonald's Philippines Presents 2 Exciting Comebacks

8:14:00 AM 0 Comments

Po of Kung Fu Panda is back to become "The Dragon Warrior." He, together with his friends, The Furious Five, protect the Valley of Peace.

To celebrate the much-awaited sequel of Kung Fu Panda, McDonald's Philippines partnered with them to make the Kung Fu Panda 2 Happy Meal! Kids can recall and recreate the adventure of Po with The Furious Five against the fierce Kung Fu Warriors gang by collecting all 8 characters. Each character shows their special kung fu moves with their battle face.

Do you know that in every Happy Meal 50 centavos goes to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), the charity of choice of McDonald’s and its programs Bright Minds Read (BMR) and Bahay Bulilit? So kids don't only get a good meal with wonderful toys but also, they get to help the less fortunate children. Isn't that great?

Another exciting surprise is the comeback of McDonald's Shake Shake Fries! The Shake Shake Fries costs only PhP55.00 which comes in Cheese Rush and BBQ Kick action-packed flavors.

As usual, there are Shake Shake Fries Combos that you can choose from to make your meal more enjoyable. Here are the choices:

1. Watermelon Sprite McFloat with Shake Shake Fries for PhP85.00
2. Green Apple Sprite McFloat with Shake Shake Fries for PhP85.00
3. Coke McFloat with Shake Shake Fries Combo for PhP80.00

These combos are very refreshing specially it's still very hot here in the Philippines despite the rain.

I'm starting to crave for one now because of writing this and the picture! Just look at it! Isn't it inviting? I think the last time I had them was around 2 years ago so I suggest you better hurry up and get one before it's gone! I'm sure that I'm getting one soon. Maybe after watching Kung Fu Panda 2, you can go to the nearest McDonald's from the theater with your kids and enjoy these 2 exciting comebacks!

Walk the World and End Hunger

8:16:00 AM 0 Comments

Can walking and ending of hunger work on the same line? For United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), combining this two is possible every year!

According to the study of United Nations, one of the main cause of death for children under five years old is because of hunger which leads to malnutrition and it becomes a threat to global health around the world.

Blogger Flowell Galindez, an advocate of WFP, wearing "we feedback" shirt which shows what WFP is doing around the world.

On May 29, 2011 (Sunday), at the SM Mall of Asia, starting 5am to 10am, supporters of WFP will come together to either do the 2-km walk, 5-km run and the 10-km group run. Proceeds from this event will be going to approximately 80,000 school children in Maguindanao, Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur.

During the launch of Walk the World 2011 yesterday, their biggest supporter, Philippine Pizza, Inc. (Pizza Hut and Taco Bell) sent their CSR Manager Cyril Gonzales to discuss the importance of CSR in a big company like their company. Giving back to the society does not only give Philippine Pizza, Inc. a good image but it also makes them feel accomplished that they are very fortunate to be able to help these children. Aside from helping with feeding the children, Pizza Hut was also in charge for the food and venue of the launch.

Philippine Pizza, Inc. CSR Manager Cyril Gonzales and the food he provided during the launch.

Other company supporters include the following -

TNT Express Worldwide Philippines Inc. that sent their Country Human Resources Director Cecilia Casas who have participated the walk since it began here in the Philippines,

Unilever Philippines, Inc. sent their Senior Brand Manager for Knorr Bajeng Cruz who discussed that their nutricious products including Knorr are being used to feed the children in Mindanao which makes their company pass on their blessings to the unfortunate children who are now quite fortunate because they're there to help.

Stephen Anderson, United Nations World Food Programme - Philippines Country Director and Representative discussed how they have been helping the children in Mindanao. He explained how school supplies, good teachers and nice clothing are not enough for the children to study properly in school. He showed how the problem of hunger can actually affect a child's performance and thus be dangerous to a child's health. So before anything else, it is very important for these children to have a proper nutrition.

It is also very surprising to learn from Mr. Anderson that for just PhP10, WFP can already provide a nutricious meal to a child at school.

A video of KC Concepcion, who is a very active advocate of WFP, was also shown during the launch to explain to the attendees the colorful life of these children in the south. They actually do not look like they're Filipinos but they are and they need our help.

Just in case you're wondering what is WFP? WFP is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. On average, they feed more than 90 million people in more than 70 countries. So, isn't it great to be able to help them feed more and more hungry kids?

At the end of the launch, the supporting companies, Mr. Anderson and the attendees were asked to sign their petition to end hunger on a footprint. These footprints were asked to be posted on the Wall Against Hunger which will again be brought out during the walk on May 29, 2011.

The supporters, bloggers, attendees from media and my footprint.

End hunger and join Walk the World Pilipinas at www.walktheworld-pilipinas.org. If you won't be able to attend the walk, check out http://wfp.org/walktheworld to send in your donations, photos and videos.

The Hilarious Caveman

"Defending the Caveman" is the longest running one man show in Broadway, translated into 30 different languages, shown in 45 countries with 8 million tickets sold worldwide. This show explains the differences between men and women which have created a lot of miscommunications between the sexes and made a lot of couples split up. Rob Becker, writer of the show, is a comedian and actor who made this show originally intended for a stand-up comedy but it has grown and brought into Broadway because of its witty and very funny comparisons of the sexes that have touched a lot of people's lives.

Press preview guests waiting for the show.

The set of the show looks like it came from “The Flintstones” to remind viewers that although the show defends the ‘caveman,’ it must be taken lightly. One thing good about the show is that it does not support male dominance. The whole one hour and ten minutes is one long explanation of why men act the way they do and enlighten women about them but at the same time it warns men that they should be aware of their actions and try to be more understanding to women. It advises men to adjust to women and inform women to also be understanding to men.

The set looks like it came out of the cartoons "The Flintstones"

To ensure the equality of men and women, this show is directed by both a man, Michael Williams, and a woman, Cathy Azanza-Dy. The value of the show is not to give excuses why men behave the way they do but simply gives an overview of how men think. It does not degrade women but it praises how women are very essential to the lives of men. By being fair to both the sexes, this show is a must watch for single people who are looking for love, for couples who are starting their journey, for those who have been married for years and for those who are planning to get married so that they may appreciate the other gender. I myself strongly recommend those couples who are having problems with one another to take a chance and watch this show. Maybe, just maybe, this show can help straighten out miscommunications and misunderstandings because of gender differences.

Defending the Caveman will be showing at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati on May 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2011 at 8pm. For tickets, please visit www.ticketworld.com.ph.
